In the summer of 2022, a group of local construction professionals met to discuss the skills challenges facing business, specifically the local construction industry and the need to improve recruitment and retention in our region to support and sustain our local industry needs.

 
It quickly became apparent that all disciplines share common challenges and also a shared drive, desire and commitment to the future of our industry. The development of local people to fulfil these needs, leading to professional employment will ensure local needs are met by local companies and local people. The support and promotion of the local economy is key to our proposed approach.

 
Construction East was formed to develop, articulate and drive a new industry-led solution to this long-term skills issue.
