We have an industry problem, and we need an industry solution. We need to do something different, or we will get the same results.
While our industry exhibits great energy, the lack of cohesion is apparent. We must move away from individual efforts and unite to expand our impact, cover more ground and enhance our offerings.
We need to sell our industry, and explain the careers and the educational pathway. We need to cover a lot of ground to reach as many potential students as possible.
If we can do this, we can get the interest and support of the educators to put on the further and higher education courses we need, making this a local offering that will aid our recruitment and retention whilst attracting new people to our area.
We need to support the educators; we need the industry to be actively involved in the educational offering to aid interest and understand that we are making the offering the best we can. This interface needs to be efficiently planned and delivered to help the educators and our students.
We need to help each other. We need to support each other. Designers need time on site. Those on-site need time with designers. This will improve our people and improve our industry.
We need local clients to engage. To see the desire of the local industry and our support to improve the skills of local people, the local economy and to see the benefit and added value of the quality and skill we can locally provide.
Construction East will be the hub and centre to co-ordinate our offering.
The more we work together the better the outcome is. The outcomes are what we all need. We need people and we need good people.
